Our client, a major corporation, prevailed in a multi-count action filed against it by Orion Refining Corporation in Texas state court.  Orion sued our client claiming that the Milli-Second Catalytic Cracking (MSCC) process unit at Orion’s Louisiana oil refinery, which was designed and licensed by our client, did not perform as well as defendant represented.  Orion sought $530 million in damages.  The court entered summary judgment in favor of our client on all the tort, contract, and equity claims then alleged by Orion.  Our client also succeeded in defeating a multi-billion dollar intervention claim asserted by the former controlling shareholder of Orion’s predecessor.
