Chad J. Doellinger Print

Chad J. Doellinger is a partner at Eimer Stahl Klevorn & Solberg LLP.  He has experience in a wide variety of commercial litigation matters in both state and federal courts, with a focus on antitrust, class action defense, unfair competition and intellectual property.  Chad is a member of the trial bar for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and has recently been named a “Rising Star” by Illinois Super Lawyers Magazine.  Some of the leading cases and matters he has worked on include the following:

  • Obtaining dismissal with prejudice of putative class action claims brought against Fortune 100 client.
  • Obtaining dismissal of all claims and obtaining monetary sanctions against plaintiff for suit relating to property seized from the firm’s client by the Nazis prior to World War II.
  • Obtaining summary judgment on behalf of a Fortune 100 company in intellectual property litigation.
  • Defending leading manufacturer in Department of Justice investigation; no indictments were retuned.
  • Second chairing a design patent trial to a successful jury verdict and acting as lead counsel during hearing where Court found the patent of the firm’s client to be valid.
  • Co-authoring the American Bar Association’s Amicus Curiae Brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in Moseley v. V Secret Catalogue, Inc., No. 01-1015 (March 4, 2003).  

In addition to his practice, Chad is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago Law School, where he has taught since 2003.  Chad has written extensively and spoken around the country on topics of competition and intellectual property.  He holds a Juris Doctor degree from the Yale Law School, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Yale Symposium on Law and Technology, director of the Domestic Violence Temporary Restraining Order Project, and founder of a domestic violence clinic.  Chad received his undergraduate degrees (B.A. with honors in Philosophy, B.S. in Political Science) from the University of Iowa.
