Greg J. Weintraub Print

Greg joined Eimer Stahl after serving as a law clerk to Hon. James B. Moran in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois from August 2000 to August 2002. He graduated with honors from the University of Chicago Law School in 2000, where he was a staff member of the University of Chicago Law Review. He received his bachelor of science in Business Administration summa cum laude and his bachelor of arts in Political Science magna cum laude from Boston University in 1997.

Representative caseload includes:

  • Defending CITGO Petroleum Corporation in federal MDL proceedings arising from a nationwide series of cases against dozens of oil refiners, marketers and other industry participants concerning alleged contamination of groundwater by a gasoline blending agent known as MTBE.  Mr. Weintraub coordinated removal of over 60 state court cases, factual investigation of nationwide supply and distribution practices, briefing of defendants' successful opposition to plaintiffs' motions to remand and briefing of dispositive motions.  He also participated in development of defendants' fact and expert discovery strategy and preparation of corporate representatives for depositions.
  • Defense of personal injury claims by contractors arising from workplace incident, culminating in summary judgment based on lack of medical causation.
  • Defense of whistleblower claims involving allegations of price-fixing conspiracy.
  • Participating in joint defense of national and statewide consumer and commercial class actions, including class discovery and briefing in opposition to class certification and dispositive motions.
  • Drafting discovery and dispositive motions and assisting in devising strategy for federal court commercial disputes.
  • Assisting in advising clients on environmental, antitrust and international trade regulatory compliance.
  • Advising consulting firm on conflict of interest issues related to its acquisition of another firm.
  • Providing antitrust counseling to industry trade group.
  • Participating in successful defense of major accounting firm in shareholder derivative suit.
  • Drafting amicus brief for case in state Supreme Court.
