Pamela R. Hanebutt
Pam Hanebutt is a general litigator whose experience encompasses a wide variety of disputes. Over the last decade, the principal focus of Pam's practice has been products liability and environmental litigation, including: toxic tort and public nuisance litigation, environmental enforcement litigation, contaminated site investigations and natural resources damages claims, cost-recovery and contribution litigation, litigation risk assessments, internal investigations, and buyer-seller indemnity litigation. Pam also has litigated matters involving contract and real property disputes, telecommunications, wrongful termination, and mass torts. Representative cases that Pam has worked on include:
- Defending a major oil company in federal multi-district litigation involving the gasoline additive MTBE.
- Defending a manufacturing company in a class action alleging TCE contamination of groundwater.
- Defending a petrochemical company against toxic tort litigation filed by neighboring residents alleging personal injury and property damage arising out of exposure to air emissions.
- Defending a well-servicing company against property damage claims filed by residential homeowners.
- Representing a paper company in connection with a possible enforcement action arising out of contaminated river sediments.
- Defending a utility in a Superfund contribution action arising out of the cleanup of a former manufactured gas plant site.
- Defending a nationwide class action brought by landowners alleging the improper use of railroad rights-of-way.
- Representing an engineering firm accused of the negligent cleanup of property contaminated with polychlorinated biphenyls.
Pam is also active in pro bono matters and has represented indigent clients in Immigration Court. She is a 1984 graduate of Tulane Law School, with an undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois.
