Eimer Stahl was retained by a Canadian media company to represent it in a number of lawsuits related to its subsidiary, a global newspaper publisher that owned such titles as The Daily Telegraph, the Chicago Sun-Times, and the Jerusalem Post.  The firm was retained to represent the media company in an SEC lawsuit against the subsidiary (in which our client was permitted to intervene); a $1.25 billion lawsuit by the subsidiary against our client and others alleging violations of the RICO statute; three class actions brought by shareholders of the subsidiary against our client and others alleging violations of securities laws; and an action by our client against its subsidiary seeking to enjoin the subsidiary's planned sale of its United Kingdom assets.
