Lisa Meyer Featured in Chicago Lawyer Magazine for Pro Bono Work with the Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights
Eimer Stahl l partner Lisa Meyer was recently interviewed by Chicago Lawyer Magazine, and shared her experiences in representing clients in a variety of pro bono matters. The article discusses Ms. Meyer’s dedication to providing justice to those in need. “I have always felt, ever since before I was in law school, that lawyers have a special opportunity and obligation to help others and to try and do justice in the world,” she says.
The article also discusses the work Ms. Meyer does for the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, an organization that has been fighting segregation and discrimination since 1969, and for which she currently serves as the President and Chair of the Board of Directors. In highlighting a recent landmark victory over Chicago Public Schools, Ms. Meyer explains the significance of the decision by CPS to not close a top-performing South Side school in the wake of the court’s ruling, stating, “This was a big victory for the families and the staff at National Teachers Academy and I believe it is the first school closure to be stopped by a racial discrimination case.”
