Represented an electronics company in a nationwide consumer class action arising out of the sale of refrigerators.
Represented the second-largest agricultural cooperative in the nation in direct and indirect purchaser class actions alleging price fixing of raw milk.
Represented a major electronics company in direct and indirect purchaser class action multidistrict antitrust litigation involving allegations that manufacturers or sellers of optical disk drives conspired to illegally raise and fix optical disk drive prices.

Defeated class certification in a lawsuit against gasoline manufacturers by Florida boat owners who claimed that their boats’ engines and fuel systems were damaged by ethanol-blended fuel.
Representing Humana Inc. in action to recover overcharges in case alleging scheme to inflate sales and the price of multiple sclerosis drug by providing copayment assistance to patients who otherwise would have chosen cheaper alternatives.

Served as Chicago counsel for a social network in an action brought pursuant to the Antiterrorism Act alleging that major technology companies provide material support to terrorist groups which enabled them to carry out the November 2015 attack in Paris.
Served as Chicago counsel for several banks and others in class action litigations, including work on a successful motion to dismiss.
Represented a lead defendant in an action brought by body shops alleging seven nationwide RICO price suppression conspiracies by the country’s largest auto insurers, competing body shops and data providers to underpay labor rates and parts prices.

Served as trial and appellate counsel for an electronics company named as a defendant in an alleged TFT-LCD panel price-fixing case.
Defended a steel manufacturer in direct and indirect purchaser class action lawsuits alleging conspiracy to restrict the supply of steel produced in the United States.
Represented an oil refiner in a two-week jury trial of a personal injury lawsuit arising out of an accidental chemical release at one of its refineries and obtaining a jury verdict of no permanent injury and a nominal award for temporary respiratory injuries that were conceded at trial.
Obtained a $20 million judgment in favor of our client after an 8-day trial in a case involving complex contract law issues.
Represented Corn Products International, Inc. and its Chairman and CEO in a federal securities fraud class action. Plaintiffs alleged that defendants made false or misleading statements regarding the company’s anticipated performance in violation of Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and Rule 10-b(5) promulgated thereunder. Eimer Stahl obtained a favorable settlement following depositions of the named plaintiffs and prior to the completion of class certification briefing.
Defended one of a number of banks sued by United Airlines for allegedly violating federal law by collectively negotiating against United to restructure existing aircraft lease and financing arrangements.
TCE litigation against a tool and die manufacturer alleging property damage as a result of groundwater contamination.
Represented a Canadian media company in a number of related lawsuits and enforcement actions arising out of alleged fraud and racketeering by Lord Conrad Black and others, including a $1.25 billion lawsuit filed by its subsidiary and numerous related S.E.C. and shareholder class actions.

Secured acquittal of an oil refiner on three of five felony counts in a federal criminal trial where the refiner's Corpus Christi refinery was charged with willfully violating federal environmental laws, and won a motion to cap the fine at $2 million against the government’s argument for a maximum fine of $2 billion.

Appointed by District Attorney for Fond Du Lac County to serve as special trial counsel in murder prosecution, securing, after five-day trial, guilty verdicts on all counts, including first-degree murder.
Obtained an injunction on behalf of WMC and other business groups preventing the State’s planned release of names of Wisconsin businesses with two or more employees to have tested positive for COVID-19.
