Jacob Hamann is a Partner at Eimer Stahl. He represents clients in a wide range of complex commercial disputes in both federal and state courts nationwide, including matters involving commercial torts, antitrust, breach of contract, and insurance, as well as class actions and multidistrict litigation. Jake also has substantial experience in international arbitration before major arbitral tribunals, including the ICC and ICDR forums, where he has played prominent roles in high-stakes proceedings addressing issues arising from supply contracts and site service agreements.
In addition to his litigation practice, Jake advises clients in antitrust investigations initiated by state attorneys general and competition authorities in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He also counsels clients on developing robust antitrust compliance programs.
Before joining Eimer Stahl, Jake served as a law clerk to the Honorable Philip P. Simon of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana. Prior to his clerkship, he was an associate at Hinkhouse Williams Walsh in Chicago.

- Girard Street Inv. Holdings v. PDV Holding, Inc. – Defending PDV Holding, Inc. against creditors of Venezuela and PDVSA seeking to pierce PDV Holding’s corporate veil and enforce billions of dollars of judgments against it and its property on an alter ego theory.
- Humana Inc. v. Lundbeck LLC, et al. – Representing Humana in cost recovery actions pending in state court against pharmaceutical company to recover damages incurred because of their fraudulent kickback schemes.
- National Climate Change Litigation – Representing CITGO Petroleum in thirteen climate change lawsuits filed by states and municipalities across the United States claiming that defendant oil, natural gas, and coal companies are responsible for infrastructure damages caused by sea level rise and other adverse weather phenomena attributable to global greenhouse gas emissions.
- Confidential Arbitration – Represented chemical company in a breach of contract dispute in ICDR involving failure to pay for steam supply.
- Confidential Arbitration (ad hoc arbitration 2024-2025) – Trial counsel to captive insurance subsidiaries of Fortune 100 company in coverage dispute arising from spinoff transaction.
- In re Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) Antitrust Litigation – Defended SK hynix in indirect-purchaser class-action antitrust lawsuits concerning the alleged price-fixing of dynamic random-access memory.
- Confidential Arbitration – Represented chemical company in series of disputes in ICC and ICDR over commercial agreements for sites in Germany, the Netherlands, and the U.S. Gulf Coast.
- In re Optical Disk Drive Products Antitrust Litigation – Defended LG Electronics Inc. in actions alleging price-fixing of optical disk drives brought by numerous businesses and consumers in both class and individual actions.
- Confidential Arbitration (International Chamber of Commerce 2019) – Trial counsel to Fortune 100 company in breach of contract dispute against a major business partner.
- Kleen Products LLC, et al. v. International Paper Company, et al. – Defended against a class action in the Northern District of Illinois in which Plaintiffs alleged that the Defendants, manufacturers of containerboard which is used to make cardboard boxes, conspired to restrict the supply of containerboard in order to increase the price.
- Sansone v. Donahoe –Tried employment discrimination case to a jury verdict for maximum damages allowed under statute as pro-bono counsel for plaintiff in conjunction with Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights.
