Of Counsel James (Jim) Speta was recently quoted in the Yahoo! Finance article, “Microsoft’s bid for Activision Blizzard comes with 2 Big Legal Hurdles.” Microsoft is currently in the process of acquiring gaming giant Activision Blizzard – a transaction that poses a slurry of red flags in the form of unfavorable legal and antitrust implications. One of the biggest concerns from a regulator’s standpoint is Microsoft’s ownership of the gaming console Xbox, paired with the potential ownership of Activision Blizzard.

Jim commented on this issue, stating “Already, you’re seeing questions about whether Microsoft would take the Activision Blizzard content and make it exclusive to Xbox.” In addition, Jim mentioned that an acquisition of this nature would increase the likelihood of regulators looking to sue and block the deal.
