Eimer Stahl is preparing an amicus curiae brief for the D.C. Circuit in consolidated appeals challenging Executive Orders that raise important issues for lawyers and their clients. These cases present significant questions about the rule of law and the ability of law firms to represent their clients without improper government interference. The appellants’ opening brief is available here.
The brief will be filed in support of appellee law firms Perkins Coie LLP, Jenner & Block LLP, Susman Godfrey LLP, and Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, and is intended to highlight the broader implications of these appeals for the legal profession while demonstrating widespread support across the bar.
Eimer Stahl invites other law firms interested in supporting the appellees to join this amicus effort. Firms that would like to learn more or sign on may contact us privately at amicus@eimerstahl.com.
This effort builds on Eimer Stahl’s amicus work in related litigation last spring, when amicus briefs filed by Munger, Tolles & Olson and Eimer Stahl were joined by hundreds of law firms nationwide. Courts ruled in the law firms’ favor in those cases. As these appeals move forward, broad participation will be important to show the court the depth of support for the independence of the profession.
